2014 CALL FOR PROPOSALS GENERAL PURPOSE GRANTS

Introduction
The West Coast Community Foundation has pleasure in inviting a second round of 2014 applications for funding from organizations and institutions that provide development services to communities in the West Coast region, as part of our Unsolicited Grant Making program. These grants are targeting organizations and institutions in the areas of the West Coast and Atlantis, so only projects in those areas will be considered. Please note that organizations that are not West Coast based but render services to people from the West Coast are also welcome to apply.

Nature of the funding
We acknowledge that the needs of service providers vary from one institution or setting to the next – our aim is to make a contribution in the following areas:

• improving the scope and/or quality of services rendered to communities in the West Coast
• assisting the implementation of innovative development projects in the community.
• funding needed to top-up existing budgets for event driven projects.

Who can apply?

All registered schools/Centre’s/institutions/care facilities/programmes/organizations/projects that provide development services to communities in the West Coast district municipal area and Atlantis.

Selection criteria

The following grant criteria will apply during the selection process:

• Each application will be assessed on its own merit.
• Both existing and new/planned projects may apply.
• Comprehensive/complete projects and/or elements/parts of a larger project/programme will be considered.
• Applicants will be required to submit written applications and selected organizations will then enter into a grant agreement with the Foundation, which will also stipulate the reporting and recognition requirements to be adhered to.

Grant value

Proposals should contain a detailed, itemized budget that may not exceed R5 000 in total for each application.

• Each applicant is allowed to submit only one proposal as part of the current call-for-proposals.
• The closing date for this round of submissions is Friday, 31 October 2014.

Proposal format

• Short profile of the organization (focusing on the questions “who we are/where we come from and what we do/the services we provide”)

• Problem/need/opportunity statement (focusing on the questions “who are our beneficiaries and what is the need or problem that we wish to address/the opportunity we want to take advantage of ”)
• The proposed intervention and benefits (focusing on the questions “what do we want to do in order to address the above problem, need or opportunity and what will be its impact/end results”)
• The proposed budget (a detailed, itemized budget), including quotations (where relevant), as well as your banking details
• Contact details: name of contact person/responsible project leader, telephone number, fax number, e-mail address, postal address, registration details (for example, NPO registration number) – all of this on your letterhead, please.

Apart from the written proposal, applicants are strongly encouraged to also include audio/visual support material (for example photographs, newspaper clippings, letters, illustrations, etc.).

Applications should reach our offices by no later than 13:00 on 31 October 2014.
